Police arrest medical doctor who bought N28m Porsche car with fake bank alert, says hacking into Nigerian banks is very easy
A 28-year-old medical doctor and a professional hacker, Michael Williams, who specializes in generating fake bank alerts to buy assorted vehicles and divert online fund transfers, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, who paraded the suspect before newsmen in the command's headquarters in Ikeja yesterday, said the suspect who hails from Delta State, claimed he learnt how to hack accounts when he relocated to Canada. He alleged his roommate who is from Israel had taught him the Act.
On how he was arrested, CP Imohimi said his office received a complaint that there exists a syndicate that goes to car shops, buy any exotic car of their choice, configures a computer program that would send a fake payment alert to the seller and by so doing, obtain the car of their choice under false pretenses.
Williams had visited a car dealer, Abidogun Adewale and bought a Porsche SUV at N28 Million with a fake bank alert.
'' After he had bought the vehicle, he thereafter requested for the seller’s bank account number and made it look like he had paid him via the fake alert to his phone using HTTP tunnel. com. The suspect drove the car away unknown to the seller that he had been scammed. Adewale had only discovered when he went to the bank to obtain his bank statement weeks after. However, based on his complaint, a manhunt was launched on the fleeing suspect. The command availed detectives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad all necessary Intelligence asset which led to the arrest of the suspect in Lekki Lagos. This suspect was interrogated and he confessed to committing the crime.
He also led detectives to Asaba, Delta State where the stolen Porsche car was recovered. He also led detectives to Owerri, Imo State where two Camry Saloon cars he stole in a similar fashion were recovered. The modus operandi of the suspect who has a good mastery of cyber environment is that he creates a credit card, through cyber ghost 12. When the credit card matures, it is then funded through a hacked Swiss account. Any transaction anybody is doing through Swiss account the suspect manipulates such and wire the fund to his contrived credit card. This is possible with the aid of cyber ghost 12 HTTP/tunnel.azinytv4/vpn (virtual private network). He further stated that through the credit card, one can buy softwares he needs to work and protect his job so that he cannot be traced.
Such softwares are known as von and word cyber protector for example Dare Devil. It also enables you to do deductions and transactions per dollar from every individual domicillary account, shutting of CCTV camera on Dare Devil and break the 256 codes on word CCTV.china.north Korea.code, untouchable.tracker.com. This enables him to shut down any working system of his interest on yt. com an Internet sophistication for example youtube/Facebook to make them unworkable for 67 minutes. Although he is not a computer scientist, he claimed to be a professional hacker.” CP Imohimi says
When interrogated, Williams said he left Nigeria after he was kicked out by two hospitals he worked with
''I was pushed out of work so I got a visa to travel to Canada. I worked at Tolu medical centre and EKO hospital. It is just that in Nigeria, when they see you are good at something, they just look for a way to push you out.
I travelled to Canada to get a job to do or something to do. When I got to Canada, I was living with an Israel guy who had an accommodation there. He taught me all I need to know in hacking. It is about software made easy online. So when you are a hacker, you buy the software online, it is very easy. I get money online and not from individuals in Nigeria. It is a free world online. I came back to Nigeria because our banks are not secured. You can easily hack accounts online. Creating a credit card, you get old credit card online, create them wait for a day monitor your emails and wait for when transactions are coming in on the Swiss code transaction. I don’t have an idea of how much I have made.
Anybody making a one million Dollar or two million Dollar transaction or one billion Dollar, then you divert it online. Then you secure your securities, then you fund it on your credit card. After funding it on your credit card, then you can use your credit card to buy any kind of powerful software you want and anything buyable online. You monitor celebrities, movie producer and actresses in the USA. John Travolta an actor based in USA he does transfers every week. I hacked into his Swiss code account. Banks in Nigeria are not like banks abroad.” he said
Williams said Nigerian banks have porous online banking security
“In Nigeria you can sit and hack any account but abroad it is only through the Swiss account because the money is much . Nigerian bank don’t have professional hackers to secure them online. They are not secured so I can easily hack into their account. When you are online, you can do whatever you want to do. I don’t have an account because you can easily be caught so I just do credit cards. You get old credit card”he said
The Commissioner of Police said the suspect would be charged to court soon.
Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders have allegedly killed 32 Tiv villagers at various locations across the southern senatorial district of Nasarawa State. The coordinated attacks reportedly took place on Saturday and Sunday. The Punch learnt that the attacks were carried out simultaneously in Awe, Keana, Obi and Doma local government areas of the state, leaving 19 others with varying degrees of injury.
Confirming the incident in a telephone interview, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Gabriel Akaaka, said the gunmen invaded his house and set it ablaze.
He said, “It is true the gunmen believed to be Fulani herders raided my house this morning and set it ablaze. “The Tiv villagers are stranded. I have just spoken to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Bello, to deploy his security personnel and security operatives in the state to the area in order to rescue the villagers.” One of our correspondents, who went round some of the affected areas reports that about 15,000 fleeing Tiv villagers were stranded on the streets of Lafia, the state capital, while over 100,000 were taking refuge in different Internally Displaced Persons camps at Agwatashi, Aloshi, Awe, Adudu, Obi, Keana, Doma, Agyaragu, among other locations. Confirming the incident to one of our correspondents in a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kennedy Idirisu, said the command only learnt of the attack early on Monday. He said, “There was an attack on Monday morning, but the command has yet to receive details as regards the number of people that lost their lives in the early hour attacks by unknown gunmen.” In another development, the Benue State Police Command on Monday confirmed the death of four of its men, killed by suspected herdsmen. According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, Moses Yamu, the killing took place at Anyibe in the Logo Local Government Area of the state.
Logo and Guma local government areas of the state had been under attacks by the suspected Fulani herdsmen, resulting in the loss of lives. 73 victims were buried in January, 2018.
Yamu stated that the command’s “personnel came under attack by insurgents at Anyibe, Logo Local Government Area of the state between 18.00 hours of yesterday, 15 of April, 2018 and early morning of date (Monday.) Sadly at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by police.” He said the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had deployed more policemen in the area. The PPRO said the attackers would soon be arrested and be made to face the wrath of the law. In yet another separate incident, soldiers from the 707 Special Forces on Monday killed four suspected Fulani herdsmen in Yogbo community of the Guma Local Government Area of the state. One of our correspondents gathered from the locals that military identity cards were found on the bodies of the slain herdsmen by the soldiers who conducted a search on them. A source from the village told one of our correspondents on the telephone that the herdsmen pretended to be soldiers on duty. Another source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the remains of the herders were taken to NASME private clinic in Makurdi. When contacted, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 707 Special Forces Battalion, Makurdi, Major Ayeni Olabisi, confirmed the incident. Ayeni said, “Our troops stationed in Yogbo, in the Guma LGA, killed four Fulani herdsmen but no military identity cards were found on them. I will still contact you to give you further information.” Also, the Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, Terver Akase, said about 20 of the Fulani herdsmen attacked Yogbo village. He said, “Herders invaded the village and started burning down several houses. Troops responded and killed four of them while others fled.”
WAV / STG IN THE BEGINNING Expatriates who were brought on board, in 2002, to manage the fast growing West African Ventures (WAV), a Nigerian company providing offshore engineering services, have conspired to hijack the business from its owner, investigation uncovered. Jacques Roomans, founder of WAV had hired Fraser Moore, Stephen Assiter, Graham Pennycook and other expatriates to oversee WAV/STG businesses in Nigeria and West Africa.
The business was largely managed by Fraser who served as the chief operating officer/managing director for many years. And in March 2013, the expats led by Fraser, instigated Jacques to take a bond for $575million ostensibly for the growth of his business.
THE CONSPIRACY The interest on the $575million bond was 9% per annum and was paid without default from March, 2013 to October, 2016, with $120 million earlier paid by Jacques to reduce the face value of the bond to $456 million— and the business continued to run. In February 2016, however, following a lull in the business, Jacques thought of consolidating the STG and WAV businesses. But unknown to Jacques, Fraser in concert with the other expatriates wanted, by all means, to take over the company from Jacques. Following the refusal of Jacques to accede to Fraser’s request to appoint him as the chief executive officer, he left the company. He, however, was behind the scene, pushing the other expatriates to encourage Jacques to transfer his shares in STG to Anglo Saxon Trust (AST), a trust company.
One of the expatriates, Peter de Ruiter, then organized the transfer of the STG shares to AST, a company that is incorporated in Jersey. Immediately the expats succeeded in transferring the shares to AST, they all resigned from the board and the company.
Upon the exit of these expats, Jacques, who still wanted to see his business continue, constituted a new management team to run the affairs of STG and WAV. Graeme Pennycook and Per Schøyen were appointed to head the new management. Again, Fraser led other expats who had left, to start instigating the bond holders and the appointed trustees (AST) to put pressure on Jacques, despite the fact that the company was, regularly, paying its interest and there were no issues.
Bowing to the pressures, Jacques, with Graeme Pennycook and Per SchoyenSchøyen, agreed to meet the bond holders in London in July 2016. At the meeting, it was decided that the bond holders would nominate a representative to the board. It was a shock, when Peter de Ruiter who was one of the expats who left in May 2016, emerged as the acting advisor to AST- a glaring conflict of interest having earlier introduced Jacques to the trustees.
In discussions for bond holder nominations, Fraser was presented as a nominee and Jacques declined. He then travelled and left the discussions for Graeme Pennycook to proceed on his behalf.
In October 2016, Pennycook without authorization from Jacques, stopped the payment of the interest on the bond, which gave rise to a possible event of default on the bond. Pennycook, without any authorization from Jacques took this decision and then stated that Jacques had “agreed” to a change in the Board, which will include the removal of himself and his wife.
Eventually on December 1, 2016, AST who were trustees of Jacques and supposed to protect his interest, removed him from the board without authorization or confirmation from him but rather from Pennycook. All these were done in the name of the bond introduced by Fraser and the other expats, a clear grand conspiracy.
Fraser Moore and Stephen Assiter would eventually emerge as C.O.O and C.F.O of the hijacked STG. Similarly, Graeme Pennycook and Per Schøyen the MD and deputy MD who oversaw the fraudulent removal of Jacques from his company, were immediately recruited as “consultants.” Fraser used this opportunity to take over the funds in the offshore bank accounts with substantial balances collected out of WAV’s operations in Nigeria.
ATTEMPT TO STEAL VESSEL The conspirators did not stop there. On April 1, 2017, they employed the services of one Ikioda, a retired admiral who tried to forcefully take one of WAV’s vessels, Jascon 55 out of Nigeria. The Nigerian Navy, however, had promptly intervened and the attempted theft was.
Another scandalous development was that STG was working through one Iyke Ejizu. In a Guradian newspaper publication of April 4, 2016, Iyke had already been disclaimed by WAV and STG, this was when Jacques was in full control of both companies. This development revealed that Fraser and Iyke may be working closely to steal the company. Having failed to remove Jascon 55, the pair of Iyke and Ikioda then embarked on a more violent effort to forcefully take out WAV vessel Jascon 30 on April 12, 2017. This time around, it got so violent that the Nigerian crew of WAV/STG were all locked up and their phones taken from them. Again, for the intervention of the Nigerian Navy, the stealing of Jascon 30 was frustrated.
THEFT OF DOCUMENTS AND CONFIDENTIAL INFOMATION Arie Smits, another key conspirator, was employed by WAV in December 2015 as general manger. As part of the contract, he agreed to obligations of confidentiality and further signed specific confidentiality agreement. But when Jacques discovered that Smits was working closely with Pennycook against the interest of WAV, his appointementappointment was terminated on January 26, 2017.
Smits acknowledged theterminationthe termination and handed over some things, but he did not hand over documents that listed all he was handling at the time. It later emerged that prior to Smits leaving, he collected details of all on-going WAV contracts. He also, reportedly, wiped the memory of his laptop and encrypted some information. Immediately Smits was disengaged from WAV, he was employed by the other conspirators and they started to seek information from his former subordinates in WAV, as well as WAV’s customers including the international oil companies (IOCs). Smits subsequently came into Nigeria, claiming to be representing STG. But, STG has never operated in Nigeria, because there is a subsisting non-competition and non-circumvention agreement which stops STG from conducting any sort of business in Nigeria or West Africa. In fact, while Jacques was fully in control of both STG and WAV, all contracts in Nigeria were undertaken by WAV only. Arie Smits, it was gathered, had come into Nigeria using the information he obtained while he was in the employ of WAV.
LIQUIDATION OF STG AND ESTABLISHMENT OF TELFORD OFFSHORE Upon Jacques’ realization of the untowardsuntoward role of his supposed trustees, AST, he took steps to replace the trustees and regain control of his company. The new STG board headed by Tom Ehret immediately initiated the process of placing STG in liquidation, to extinguish any chances of Jacques taking back control of his company. Already this group led by Fraser, Tom Ehret and Iyke Ejizu, their Nigerian front, after the orchestrated removal of Jacques, have set up Telford Offshore, and have purportedly moved the four most valuable ships in Jacques business, namely Jascon 25, Jascon 28, Jascon 31 and Jascon 34 which Fraser has brazenly renamed Telford 25, 28, 31 and 34. This sinister move shows the desperation of Fraser Moore whom, with his group, already had plans to hijack the assets which include vessels as well as the company of Jacques. Fraser and highis group had perfected their act using the bond issue which they instigated, and the phony advise to Jacques to move is shareholding to a Trust which they surreptitiously took over and the orchestrated liquidation of STG, using their network in British Virgin Islands as legal cover for their unethical move.
MAINTAIN STATUS QUO, COURT ORDERS In a suit filed by WAV against the liquidators on June 20, 2017, WAV had applied for an order of interim injuctioninjunction restraining the liquidators from taking any steps or undertaking any business.
The case, with suit number FHC/L/CS/968/2017, was presided over by Chuka Austine Obiozor, a justice of the federal high court in Lagos. And after the consideration of the application, the court ordered that the parties maintain status quo pending further order. SimilartlySimilarly, in another case, with suit number FHC/L/CS/1114/2017, filed on July 17, 2017, Obiozor, again, ordered the parties to maintaionmaintain status quo pending further order on the matter.
WAV believes that maintaining status quo means the company would continue to operate the OOIM vessels fleet in Nigeria without any interference. STG and its affiliates and all third parties can only bid for, offer or engage in the provision of the DP3 vessels in Nigeria and West Africa through WAV or with WAV’s expresssexpress and written consent. Also, construction and accommodation vessels, Jascons 25, 28, 31 and 34, following the court orders, are to be controlled by WAV, but these vessels, Fraser had already taken and renamed for Telford Offshore, this in clear violation of the court orders. Jacques, who came to Nigeria in 1968, started with Roomans Insurance Brokers, an insurance business and subsequently floated his marine charter business in 1977, when he incorporated Sea Trucks Nigeria Limited. He grew his company, incorporating other companies in the business of offshore engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and vessel charter services. In 1995, he established WAV as the umbrella for all his Nigerian businesses. In 2002, Jacques incorporated Sea Trucks Group Limited (STG) as the umbrella for his international companies, and while WAV is responsible for the businesses in Nigeria and West Africa, STG is responsible for the rest of the world.

Singer Olamide Adedeji aka Badosneh has reacted to some of the reactions he’s got since the release of his latest single ‘Science Student’.
The king of the street who is notorious for dropping singles that cause frenzies in the society has said that rather than promote, his song is actually a cry against drug abuse.
Since the release of the single, Olamide’s fans have continued to drop their own dance videos trying to show off their skills in the new dance Shaku Shaku and also a depiction of their understanding of the song!
Recall that sometimes during the week, popular actress Lala Akindoju had openly frowned at the way Nigerian musicians seem to be promoting and encouraging the use of hard drugs and substances in the name of music and dance.
Although the actress made no mention of Olamide or the song Science Student, it was easy to assume she was actually referring to the song.
However, the singer has voiced out that his song is never intended to promote drug but actually a plea to the people who mixes substances they know nothing about just to get high.
Olamide claimed that his song is also a way of trying to curtail drug abuse in the Society and won’t stop using it to completely eradicates the menace permanently.
“I can’t wait for you to see the video of Science Student which drops soon” he says.

Report coming in confirm that popularrapper in Nigeria Olamide has lost his mothertoday. The YBNL Ceo earlier celebrated his son,Batifeori Maximiliano Adedeji third birthdaytoday, January 30th 2018.However in a subsequent post some hourslater, he revealed the tragic news of hismum’s demise with a black post via hisInstagram handle.
Nigeria Broadcasting Commission,(NBC) has slammed a Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) warning against a recent song by rapper Olamide entitled, Science Student.
The notification proscribing the song from being broadcast was sent to all radio and television stations across the country during the week.
Also, the Head of Public Affairs, NBC, Hajia Maimuna Jimada confirmed NBC’s stand on the trending song on Wednesday, stating that while the regulatory body did not ban the song outrightly, it considered it unfit for broadcast.
“NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast,’” she said.
Asked about the context in which the song was declared unlawful, Jimada, hinted on the profligate mention and the subtle promotion of illegal drugs. She also issued standing warning to all broadcasting corporations within its jurisdiction.
“We have communicated all our licensees for compliance or they will face sanctions,” she said.
Often called King of the Street, Olamide engages his own indigenous tongue in what may be considered a subtle and metaphorical description of the different ways in which drugs and substance are being abused in the streets of Lagos. He mention the use of prohibited drugs such as Codeine, Tramadol, illicit substances such as Monkey tail, Skushi, Shisha, Alomoterming, referring to those who use and mix them as Science Students. This classical attribution follows what science students do in the laboratory, which is mixing chemicals.
Though, Olamide appears to reveal these activities in his song using expressions such as ashiri eko otituloju ewe, ashiritu, (the revealing of secrets), by singing about drugs and judging by the general ambience, not to mention the kind of visuals that would entail this son
This is another matrimonial issue as reported by the wife as she seeks advice.
A 45-year-old a farmer and carpenter identified as John Ulaha has impregnated his mother-in-law and putting his wife, Victoria, in a fix, Sun online reports.
In mid-September 2017, John and his mother-in-law, Mrs Ashetu Igbasue, 42, had relocated to Awe, Nassarawa State, in order to fast-track their harvesting. Three months into the pair’s sojourn, Ashetu got pregnant.
Mrs Igbasue said that it all started on the farm during a joke which led to sex later in the night when they returned from the farm. “I agreed to his demand for sex and thought it was just to satisfy his sexual feelings, but somehow, it became a daily thing,” she confessed…
“I never thought I could get pregnant due to my age. I told my daughter the truth so that we can get a solution to it and out of anger she went public with it. I have since regretted my action. My intention is to find a way and abort it…
My daughter earlier agreed to look for somebody to abort it for me because I can’t keep it. The whole thing was a temptation and I completely regret it. I have pleaded for forgiveness from her.”.
John, however, claimed that his mother-in-law seduced him by always exposing herself while they worked on the farm, especially, whenever both of them came together to eat. “She would always sit half-naked before me; at first, it was embarrassing to me,” he said…
“But I later discovered that her actions were an open invitation and as a man, I was tempted at a point, and that led to something else. And we both continued in that order until our actions resulted in pregnancy.”.
Expressing her disappointment at her husband’s behaviour, Victoria remarked: “It would have been better for him to get a second wife who will be stationed at home or even look for a girlfriend to satisfy him in my absence rather than going into a love affair with my own mother; it is a very shameful thing and an abomination of the highest order; it is wrong.”
Victoria has not recovered from the shock yet as she seeks advice.

Hello young hustlers, I have a word for you all but before we proceed, permit me to explain the word “Hustler“. The word “Hustler” has been widely linked to negative activities and fraudulent acts. Sincerely, Hustler means young mind striving to make ends meet and live a better life. You get now? 👍 Now, let’s get down to the real deal.
This life has a a process called “Stage” and sometimes, young minds striving to become great in life tends to get frustrated/oppressed when they see people ‘whether younger or older” doing better than them without thinking of how long and the sacrifices the person has invested into his/her business to get to where it is today.
You must be willing to start small… Those boys you see pushing Range Rover, Mercedes Benz, Porshe and many other expensive cars started with cars like Toyota Pencil, Honda EOD, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry, Honda Baby Boy and the likes. Those guys you see living in a Mansion, they started from Face me I slap you, Self Contain, 2 Bed-room Flat and later move into their own Mansion.
Start small and Dream Big 😎 Don’t get Frustrated – Take it one step at a time. You don’t know them when they were still struggling to become somebody. You only knew or notice them when their trees started bearing fruits. When I started Naijaloaded and my other businesses and was still praying to God to bless my Hustle, I sometimes get worried when I see young boys/men driving big cars and doing something amazing but I never get frustrated.
Most times, I go back home feeling down and bittered asking God when my own blessings will come 😩😩 … but I never thought of giving up. Once I get home, I sit in front of my Laptop and work like it’s gonna be my last day on Earth. Sincerely speaking, am living far better than I prayed for now and I know God will do same for everyone of you striving to become great.
Stop asking yourself this kind of questions 👇 * When will I blow and become great in Life? *Can my hustle/business fetch me enough money to buy this kind of Car or build this kind of a House?
No dream is too big not matter how small your Salary or Income is – If God wants it to happen, it will happen surprisingly and better than you expected. You just need to do your own part well by working hard and praying continuously. I remember when I was driving my Honda EOD, I was saving seriously to get a Toyota Camry and then God in his mercy blessed me with a Venza and later to a Mercedes Benz and then many other lovely rides now. Just keep moving! I have friends who started doing amazing things before me.
I never felt bad then because I know everyone has his/her own time to flourish but God in his infinite mercy bestow upon me something more bigger than theirs.. Am not saying this to show off but to let you know that just because someone started doing something great or started making money before you means that person will be richer than you.
Be happy for those God bless today because yours is coming tomorrow and might be bigger than theirs. God bless only those who are truly happy for others when they achieve something great. Don’t feel pained, don’t feel bad, don’t feel bitter – Yours is Coming bigger pretty soon! We all will get to the Promise Land sooner than we pray for and also make our Parents proud forever 🙏 Stay Humble no matter how fat your Bank Account is.
Your Life savings is someone else’s Breakfast budget – Stay f*cking loyal. Stay afloat you all. I will be doing more of this Advice post come 2018 to ginger young boys striving to live a better life. God bless you all 🙏
Police in Lagos have arrested a physically-challenged beggar, Godwin Fawehinmi, for allegedly being in possession of different types of guns. The suspect was arrested by detectives attached to Area M Police Command, Idimu, Egbeda area of the state at the weekend.
The suspect, who is crippled, it was learnt, usually begs for alms on the street on a daily basis. However, it came to many as a surprise when a gun was recovered from him. After a thorough search of his bag, a locally-made gun was discovered in it. Thereafter, several guns, according to the police, were discovered in Fawehinmi’s house at Alhaji Sadiku Street, Akowonjo, Egbeda.
During interrogation, the suspect was said to have declined to mention the source and his mission with the guns. A source said some residents of the area where the man usually sits to beg for alms, noticed different people that visit him on a daily basis look suspicious. That was why they informed the police, the source added.
A police source said Fawehinmi might be keeping the gun for some armed robbers and pretended to be a beggar. The source, however, said the suspect had been transferred to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office, Ikeja at the state Police Command Headquarters for further investigation. The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chike Oti, confirmed Fawehinmi’s arrest.
He said: “The crippled was arrested based on credible information available to the Commissioner of Police, Imohinmi Edgal, who now ordered that the man mentioned in the intelligence report be arrested. “The operatives of the command went after him, conducted search in his house and premises and recovered different types of guns, axes, machetes and other weapons. A new report has emerged detailing how Nigerian and other African immigrants are sold as slaves for a mere $400 in North Africa.
A new documentary captured by the International Organisation for Migration [IOM], an arm of the United Nations [UN], has revealed how Nigerian immigrants are sold for $400 in some North African countries, particularly Libya.
According to the documentary that was run by the CNN, the thriving slave market is a well-organized syndicate where the male immigrants are sold to work in farms and mines while the ladies are sold as sex slaves. The report corroborates an earlier statement released by IOM in April 2017, after an intensive and underground investigation.
The IOM statement had posited that its staff in the Niger Republic and Libya documented the shocking events on North African migrant routes, which they have described as slave markets tormenting hundreds of young Africans desperate to get to Europe through Libya.
According to IOM's Director of Operations and Emergency, Mohammed Abdiker, the situation is so dire, adding that 'some reports are truly horrifying and the latest reports of slave markets for migrants can be added to a long list of outrages.'
The statement added that IOM Libya learned of other kidnapping cases like those IOM Niger has knowledge of. CNN reporters who also participated in the investigations in Tripoli, the Libyan capital while armed with concealed cameras, revealed that about a dozen people were auctioned in the space of six or seven minutes.
One of the traders dressed in a camouflage gear and holding a man was reported to have said: “Does anybody need a digger? This is a digger, a big strong man, he’ll dig. What am I bid, what am I bid?” Ready buyers were said to have raised their hands as the price rose: “500, 550, 600, 650.
And within minutes, the deals were concluded and the men, utterly resigned to their fate, were being handed over to their new masters,” CNN adds.
he video evidence has been handed over to Libyan authorities who are currently carrying out a clampdown on smugglers. An official with Libya’s Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency, First Lieutenant Naser Hazam, told CNN that he has not witnessed a slave auction, but acknowledged that organized gangs are operating smuggling rings in the country.
“They fill a boat with 100 people; those people may or may not make it. The smuggler does not care as long as he gets the money, and the migrant may get to Europe or die at sea,” Hazam told the CNN reporters.
