Nigeria's 36 state governments received 923 billion naira; while 549.8 billion naira went to the 774 local governments in Nigeria
It appears the economic recession is not affecting the amount of money governments at all levels get to share.
Between January and June this year, the federal, state and local governments shared 2.788 trillion naira.
This represents a 38% increase over the 2.019 trillion shared in the first half of 2016.
Out of the 2.788 trillion naira, the Federal Government received 1.09 trillion naira; 36 state governments received 923 billion naira; while 549.8 billion naira went to the 774 local governments in Nigeria.
A further breakdown shows that total releases to the three tiers of government amounted to 430.16 billion naira in January; 514 billion naira in February; 496.4 billion in March; 418.82 billion naira in April; 418.82 billion naira in May; and 462.36 billion in June.
According to the Quarterly Review of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, NEITI, which focused on disbursements from the Federation Accounts and Allocation Committee (FAAC) the 2.8 trillion was shared among the three tiers of government.
NEITI said the review was based on data it obtained at the meetings of FAAC, the National Bureau of Statistics, Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Debt Management Office.
