ASUU Begins Indefinite Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike across the country
Once again the future of Nigeria's youths has been plunged into the pool of uncertainty as lecturers have worn their boxing gloves.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has commenced an indefinite strike across the country.
The lecturers took the decision to declare the strike after deliberations at its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the University of Abuja over the weekend.
ASUU had earlier asked its branches to conduct referendum among members on whether or not an indefinite strike should be called.
The Abuja meeting which ended in the early hours of Monday reviewed the overwhelming position of the branches to proceed.
ASUU President, Biodun Ogunyemi said the strike action is to be a total, comprehensive and indefinite.
No form of academic activities including teaching, attendance of any meeting, conduct and supervision of any examination at any level, supervision of project or thesis at any level would take place.
Ogunyemi said all means of negotiation have been exploited before the decision on an indefinte strike action was reached.
